2A Timanfaya National Park -10

Hi my name is Agc12.

I´m going to tell you about The Timanfaya Natural Park.
It was declared a National Park on August 9th in 1974. It is the third protected area of the Canary Islands to hold the designation of National Park and the first and only of the whole Province of Las Palmas.

It occupies an area of 51,07km² in the southwest of the island. It is a volcanic park. The last eruptions occurred in 1824. It has more than 25 volcanoes, such as the Fire Mountains, Cracked Mountain or Corazoncillo Caldera. It  has
still got volcanic activity. There are hot spots on the surface reaching 600ºC 100º-120ºC and 13 meters deep.

This volcanic habitat is in the early stages of ecological succession (in total there are about 180 different plant species) It is an excellent place to study the processes of colonization and succession.

Thanks I hope you like this presentation
